Core Values

Creative Liberation
We believe everyone is an artist when given the freedom to explore. Our events champion raw expressions, bold ideas, and the beauty of imperfection.

Human-Centered Connection
People first, always. We design experiences that prioritize joy, play, and authentic connection — because creativity thrives when people feel seen, safe, and celebrated.

Cultural Vibrance
Color is our language. We honor diverse styles, stories, and identities by making art that reflects the communities we serve — vibrant, multifaceted, and alive.

Intentional Chaos
We embrace mess, motion, and the unexpected. In our world, chaos isn’t a flaw — it’s a feature that invites creativity to move freely.

Creative Economy Building
We collaborate with local artists, creatives, and cultural workers to cultivate community wealth and visibility. Every Absurd Assembly event reinvests in the creative ecosystem that fuels us.

We make art a shared adventure.

Absurd Assembly designs art parties and creative gatherings where everyone — from kids to CEOs — gets to play, connect, and create together. Every event features a local artist as your guide, making each experience a boost for both your creativity and the local arts economy.

Offerings:

  • Art Parties: Joyful, hands-on celebrations for adults or children, perfect for birthdays, milestones, or just because. Every party is led by a featured local artist who brings their unique style, story, and skills to the table.

  • Corporate Team Building: Interactive art-making designed to spark collaboration, support wellness, and inspire leadership. We help teams connect beyond the boardroom through shared creativity and colorful chaos.

  • Intergenerational Art Activations: Public, all-ages art jams that turn community spaces into vibrant, collaborative canvases — because creativity knows no age limits.

What We Do

Make it stand out.

Paint outside the lines and bring your people.

Who we are

The Absurd Assembly is a traveling art experience designed to break the mold of traditional creativity. Founded by visual artist and community engagement consultant Moe Gram, we host vibrant art parties featuring local artists that mash up bold color, funky materials, and expressive freedom. Whether we’re rolling into a living room, a brewery, or a boardroom, our mission stays the same: to ignite joy, shake things up, and craft colorful chaos — together.

From paint-splattered canvases to collage creations and tiny 3D sculptures, every session invites people of all ages to let go, make messes, and discover unexpected magic through art making. We are always looking for local artists who have experience teaching, are interested in becoming a teaching artist, or are interested in cultivating joyful community atmospheres where art is at the center of a good time.

MEET THE TEAM

SELAH LAUREL

@selah.laurel.art

Selah Laurel is a 27-year-old self-taught artist who spent most of her life playing basketball before fully embracing her creative path. Since elementary school, she has been drawing on just about everything she could get her hands on — shoes included (much to her mother’s dismay).

Art has always been a grounding force in her life, and she hopes her work offers that same sense of connection and reflection to those who experience it. Selah is especially drawn to the idea that each viewer can interpret the same piece in a completely different way. As a multiracial artist, she also values the opportunity to explore and express the many facets of her culture through her work.

As a QTPOC artist based in Denver, Colorado, Shaunie’s work is centered on healing, transformation, and honoring the stories that shape us. Through a recent journey of personal discovery and connection to family history, Shaunie has delved into the impact of generational trauma, with each piece becoming a vessel for reflection, resilience, and growth.

She is passionate about community, play, teaching and indulging in life's many experiences. With a BFA in drawing and ceramics and a Masters in Public Health, Shaunie is always finding ways to integrate health promotion within the act of creating. Educator and community advocate, she has attained her dream career as the Assistant Director of Community and Education at RedLine Contemporary Art Center in Denver, CO and runs various education programs there. She has shown her work throughout the Denver area and beyond and enjoys expanding her horizons and learning more about diverse communities and the world.

Meet the Founder

Moe Gram is a Denver-based multi-disciplinary visual artist, designer, and community engagement consultant who believes art should feel as good as it looks.

After years of working in public schools, collaborating with nonprofits, and creating joyful, people-first experiences, Moe is bringing her big, colorful vision to life—building an art events company where local artists are supported, creativity runs wild, and everyone is invited to play.

Her work lives at the intersection of connection and curiosity. Known for vibrant murals, immersive installations, and community-driven projects, Moe creates experiences that invite people to get a little closer to themselves, to each other, and to the moment. Her work explores self-empathy, human compassion, and the beautifully strange ways memory shifts over time.

Moe has exhibited widely, including her solo show How To Earn Your Big Girl Panties at the University of Northern Colorado and installations at the Denver Art Museum’s Creative Hub. Notable projects include Get Close, But Don’t Touch at MCA Denver and Party Fouls at the Lamont Gallery, at Philips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire.

At the end of the day, she’s here to make things that spark joy, bring people together, and leave a lasting impression—bold, heartfelt, and just a little unexpected.
